What is a root canal?
Below the porcelain of your tooth is an area of soft tissue called
the pulp, which contains nerves, blood vessels and connective tissues.
Root canals run in these tissues from the top (crown) of the tooth
to its roots.
A tooth's pulp can get injured or diseased when a tooth has a deep
cavity or is cracked. When this happens, the diseased pulp must be
removed to save the tooth. This is called root canal therapy.
